The Producers (2005)

Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Uma Thurman and Will Ferrell all do a great job in this still funny Mel Brooks film. I'm interested in re-watching the original 1968 version with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel soon. It was fun to make all the connections with Season 4 of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I know, it's a musical, but I was able to get through it - it's a musical in the Monty Python/Trey Parker/Matt Stone mode - funny and, at times, crude - which is good!

House of 1,000 Corpses

Rob Zombie flick. Kinda campy, pretty good production values, not as scary as I'd like it to be. Fairly gruesome, which isn't necessarily my cup of tea. Funny to see Rainn Wilson (Six Feet Under) in it.

Castle Waiting

by Linda Medley. This is a great graphic novel with several nice stories, good characters, and wonderful artwork. Highly recommended.

Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest

Eh, it was OK - not as good as I hoped for. I did like the Kraken, though...

Nice sword fights too, and some fairly funny moments, many of which, unfortunately, were given away in the trailer.

Documentary. North Korea's Mass Games. The collective over the individual. However, the collective also in praise of one specific individual - General Kim Jong Il. Amazing visual spectacle.

Side thought: U.S. Army's strategy of emphasizing the unit over the individual in order to strengthen group cohesion and the willingness to fight.
