The Science of Sleep

Sweet film by Michelle Gondry. I was asked by a friend if this was a happy or sad movie, and the only thing I could say was that it's French.

Nice stop-motion, lo-fi animation with soft plush animals and objects, a bittersweet love story, moving and funny.

Smokin' Aces

Director Joe Carnahan's latest effort, this ultra-violent blood fest has its moments, and is very quickly paced, but didn't really connect with me. It's a good rental, though, and after a few beers I'd give it a B+.

Bad Plus live @ the Nightlight

These guys are so tight, and were having so much fun, the music couldn't help but me good. They played a lot of material from their new album Prog, including a cover of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" and Bowie's "Life On Mars".

The original stuff was challenging, innovative, and left me smiling - always a good sign of good music.

Dinosaur Jr. live @ the Nightlight

Live at the Nightlight in Bellingham! Awesome show - Mascis, Barlow and Murph rock!

They played a lot of stuff from their new album "Beyond" - and it was LOUD!

See these guys live if you can - your bones will thank you.

Open Season

Animated Grizzly Bear and Deer cope with changing from urban to wild life, making new friends and fighting back against hunters along the way.

The kids didn't like it. They thought it ripped off Shrek and Ice Age too much, and didn't enjoy the crude humor.

Four Brothers

Extremely violent, not very moving at all.

Spiderman 3

Blah. Boring. Overwrought.
